Learning To Smile Through The Trying Times...

The past few days have been a time of thought and prayer. I've had a lot on my plate and every single time I've taken a step forward I've been pushed twelve steps back.

For as long as I can remember, the bible verse that has spoken to me the most is Romans 12:12. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. For whatever reason, it's always the verse I say over and over in times of weakness. This week has been extremely difficult to keep my spirits up and serval times I felt myself starting to question God and his timing. Someone charged $900 on my debit card and my bank is refusing to cover the fraud charges right around the same time my dog needed a $300 vet visit. Why Lord? Why now? Be patient in affliction, Morgan. That was my answer this week to everything that's had my heart in shambles.

I don't know about you, but I've read the bible, welcomed Jesus into my heart, and gone to church long enough to know that no path of life will come easy. The bible makes it very clear cover-to-cover that Godly people will suffer intense trials. It's not about the valleys, it's about the mountaintops.

Affliction is the setting for all our love and joy and hope and patience and prayer. Affliction is where we live. If you don’t live there now, you will. Learning that this is normal will be a great help to you when it comes....I know, because it's helped me.

If you too are struggling, take the time to ask yourself these three questions. 1- Is my life full of joy? 2- Do I persevere in times of tribulation or do I muddle through it? 3- Am I devoted in prayer or do I only stumbled into it during difficult days?

When you can confidently answer these three questions, you've found your answers to happiness and will push through to the other side of whatever is bringing you down. My advice? Pray, lean on those you can count on (lookin' at you Eddie K), and smile.
Don't ever stop smiling!
