Just like the living room tour, this is one room in our new home that you also have seen much of....until now. It's finally decorated enough for me to share photos with y'all. I know, I know, it's taken me 6 months but oh well. It's here now and that's all that matters.
Since moving into our little Beechnut Bungalow, Eddie K and I have talked about building/or buying a faux mantle to put on the wall opposite our bed. Well, Eddie K finally did it.....and all from reclaimed wood.....and all by hand.....
.....oh and it's beyond stunning.
I'm the one with the decorating eye but Eddie K is the handiest person I know. He can figure out how to successfully build ANYTHING. I always joke around with him that he is "annoyingly good at everything." Well kids, building faux mantles is something else he can add to his list of items he mastered. All-in-all, it was a pretty fast process. It took a few days but let's be real, he worked all day long and only messed with this a few hours per night.
The best part? This got rid of the horrid collection of wires we had running from the tv down to the outlet at the bottom of the wall. It's a pretty well-known fact, but I hate wires. I think they instantly make a space look unfinished and the exact opposite of cozy.
I wish I could take credit for the incredible engineering I'm about to show you but truthfully, it was WAYYYY over my head. Eddie was able to hide FOUR electronic boxes behind the mantle.
Welcome Eddie to D+G. Here's what he did in his own words: "One of the first things that Morgan said when we bought our #BeechnutBungalow was that she didn’t want cables everywhere from all the electronics. She brought up the idea of a faux mantle and I agreed. I love the cozy feeling of a fireplace and I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out.
All of the electronics are hidden behind reclaimed wood planks (held together by cabinet magnets) and are controlled using the Logitech Harmony Hub. The hub allows us to hide most wires and cables and fully control anything with a WiFi, Bluetooth, or Infrared connection. The coolest part of it all is that we can control it all with Amazon Alexa."
Now excuse us while we turn on the tv and enjoy our new view.....“Alexa turn on Netflix.”
Here's a few BEFORE pictures:
